Better late than never. After numerous startup attempts, we’ve finalized all client-side requirements (finally). Many thanks to Boris of SQL Solutions and Janette of Digital Filipino for their full cooperation and support for SEO Philippines’ 3rd keyword ranking contest.
Please take note of the updated rules page as well. If you have questions, please post at the official contest thread at SEO.ph. Mabuhay ang Paradise Philippines! :)
Just wanted to bring everyone up to speed with the latest updates for the Search Engine Marketing Conference (SEMCON) Philippines 2007:
Yahoo! Vice President Prashant Mehta will be keynoting day 2 and will be discussing “Power of Integrated Search Marketing”. As far as I can recall, Prashant would be the highest ranking Yahoo! official to come to the Philippines.
We have 6 confirmed Googlers coming over: Derek Callow, Regional Marketing Manager - South East Asia, Google and Joel Sangria, Online Sales and Operation Manager - South East Asia, Google. Derek will be on The Best of Pay-Per-Click panel while Joel will be handling the Analyzing Google Analytics presentation. Dickson Seow, Head of Communications - South East Asia will also be there together with Google Country Consultant Aileen Apolo and Google PR staffers Lea Remulla and Allen Liberato.
Search nuts will go crazy to know that popular SEO consultant/blogger Todd Malicoat of stuntdubl.com will be coming to the Philippines to talk about The Art of Linkbaiting during Day 1.
It’s gonna be one major conference I tell you! We have delegates from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia coming over! Please head over to the SEMCON site to see the profiles of all our speakers. Don’t miss this event: register now by calling these numbers: +632- 896-0639, +632- 896-0637 or +632- 899-6216 (look for Sandy Flores/Angie Tuzon).
Here’s one more reason why SEM agencies are setting up shop here: BPO companies that operate contact centers in the evening are looking for businesses that can use the office during the morning shift. Because a good number of companies aren’t running call center campaigns during the day, there’s an oversupply of under utilized, fully fitted offices that SEM agencies can rent out to host their 10-man or 100-man teams.
So that’s call center agents at night, SEOs/copywriters/link builders in the morning. And it looks like somebody’s doing it already. Look up username: globalsky in the SEO Philippines Forums.
From that funny lyrical rendition to the toilet flush at the end, nothing beats humor in the viral world :) Way to go Benj. Can we have an encore during Semcon next month?
Here’s your chance to score two (2) SEMCON passes to see Aaron Wall of SEOBook.com and another mystery SEO rockstar for FREE :) All you have to do is 1) convince us, the organizers why you deserve these tickets and 2) what you will do with the tips you’ll pick up at the conference. A short post will probably make us look once but it may not be enough to make us look twice, so bring your blogging A-game.
We’ll be picking the two most convincing and possibly most moving blog posts a few days before October 9, the first day of the conference. Be sure to send a trackback to this post or you may leave a comment here to point us to your heartwarming SEMCON story. We may even decide to close the contest as soon as we find two worthy entries so don’t wait until the last minute to post your entry.
Of course, you could always just buy the P8,500 SEMCON ticket (get 10% early bird discount, valid until September 17) 18 OR you can avail of the 4+1 promo but why buy when you can get it for free right? :)

It’s more than a month away but if you’re in the area, please join me at the 4th annual Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Philippines Conference and Exhibition on September 20-21, 2007 at the Grand Ballroom, Hotel Intercontinental, Makati City, Philippines. I’ll be on the Search Engine Optimization and Analytics: How Best to Leverage Search Marketing and Web Analytics to Drive Leads panel and I’m really excited to present to the best one-to-one marketers in the Philippines.
Back in college, I took an elective in direct marketing and it was one of the most enjoyable and engaging subjects I had. I also manage an inhouse email marketing department and I’ve always looked to strategic database marketing as a guidebook, nay my bible, when running our Cheetahmail-powered email campaigns. In email for example, one should personalize campaigns with customer segmentation/personalization in mind. Direct marketing espouses that too, but with online you can do soooo much more. It would be an honor to present SEM to these marketers since I’ve learned so much from them. Going online is a natural progression for most marketers and I really consider it a privilege to be one of the first few online marketers to present the merits of online channels like search, PPC and email to the traditional offline marketing crowd.
I’ll probably end up talking about why the sacred direct marketing triangle of List + Offer + Creative works as effective online as it does off (if not better), then introduce why web analytics is a validation mechanism never before seen in traditional channels.
It should be great…but don’t take my word for it ;) participate!
