Globe Visibility’s Tipping Point
Posted (Marc) in Buzz Marketing, SEO on May-19-2007

The honeymoon is officially over. Watch out Globe, time to start monitoring your online reputation before it’s too late. It all started with people leaving comments on my Globe Visibility post. You can see the evolution of comments from ‘wow Globe Visibility’ to ‘it’s not functioning as advertised’ to ‘off with Globe’s head’.

Saw the first signs of the blog revolt at Robin Lim’s blog, then here, then on Bryanboy.com with his well documented nightmare. A forum post at Tsikot.com is also starting to catch fire. Track the snowballing buzz here and here.

As for me, the service has been a bitch lately. No 3G. Like MobilityPH, this blog’s powered by Globe GPRS. With this type of mobile ‘broadband’ service, Globe Visibility is suddenly not worth the $45 per month price tag.

There is also a lot of dissent brewing here:

i’m also been planning to replace my internet connection from Smart Bro to Globe Visibility since i like outdoors and i can have internet connection anywhere i go with my laptop. i love traveling and outings. :)

buti nalang indi pa ako nag subscribe. 2t/month and 24months lock-in period? gees* its not worthit sa mga reviews i read. Nagustohan ko lang sa package ng Globe Visibility ay yung WiZ Globequest account bundled nila so if nsa establishment ka na meron WiZ Globequest may free wifi ka. kamahal pa naman ng WiZ card that is 100pesos/60minutes na try ko sa Starbucks - Mall of Asia.

how about Smart WeRoam?

Alfredo on May 21st, 2007 at 8:56 PM #

Marc, is there an alternative service like Globe Visibility you can recommend?

Robin Lim on May 22nd, 2007 at 8:05 AM #

@Alfredo. Visit my blog :)

@Marc. Sorry for promoting my blog on yours, but hey… ever since you mentioned my blog, my Traffic is up :)

erica on May 22nd, 2007 at 9:01 PM #

marc, what connection do you suggest, cause I’m currently on dilemma in finding the best internet connection ever. SmartbrO?MydsL or gLobe?. thanks alot

Marc on May 22nd, 2007 at 9:31 PM #

Alfredo/Jun, unfortunately I haven’t tried the alternative (PLDT WeRoam or Smart 3G) so I’m not in the position to make recommendations on any.

Erica, the best internet connection ever…hmmm your guess is as good as mine :)

Robin, you’ve got a nice blog. I’m happy to link to it :)

Jozzua/Aileen, ika nga ni BryanBoy, third world service sucks :)

was able to talk to someone from globe about it. definitely growing pains but north america doesnt have this so im okay with being pinoy and being first. globe visibility meron ako.

Robin Lim on May 23rd, 2007 at 5:13 PM #

Actually, North America has HSDPA. They adopted a bit later than us… so they went straight to 3.6Mpbs.

Isn’t there something kind of legal initiative that can be taken to protect hapless consumers from getting duped by heavenly promises being advertised, but once they buy in, they will get short changed with hellish experiences?

I evaluated PLDT’s WeRoam for our office and the quality of their service is by far more superior than the current levels being provided by Globe’s Visibility. However, being the Globe loyalist that I am (cellphones, land line, residential DSL and now Visibility), I thought Globe’s solution should be better.

Little did I know, I was in for a rude and costly awakening (as in 2K for far less inferior service compared to land line dial up connection)!
