Wifi on EDSA? Am I missing something here? Two reasons why the Seiche Wifi Tunnel won’t fly:
- What pray tell would a driver be needing wifi for while driving along EDSA? Not Skype, since you need all your senses at your disposable while navigating the jungle that is EDSA. Assume its the passenger, not the driver that needs connectivity, will you be staying inside that tunnel long enough to get a decent amount of work done? Would you rather be working inside your office (better) or outside in a cafe (betterer). It’s hard to click on a link with all the bumps and potholes along that stretch of concrete.
- Cheaper alternatives are present. P200/5 hours for Seiche wifi access costs more than a similar and arguably faster product: Smart 3G’s P100/5 hours. The Seiche Wifi Unlimited (P850) is reasonably priced, but unless your office is on EDSA, not having the mobility advantage offered by Smart 3G and Globe Visibility is a product killer.
I wish Seiche offered free, advertising-supported wifi spots around Makati and Ortigas instead. That would have been truly killer.

I guess Seiche’s success depends on EDSA’s traffic situation. Seriously though, I see this service becoming “necessary” for many people somehow, someway, someday.
