Looking for links is like trying to get a date. If you are desperate, nobody respectable will be interested, but if you relax and behave nicely, you’ll have plenty of success..

• You’ve managed to talk to her a few times; hell you even had the chance to be groupmates for a big project in one of the classes, i.e. you’ve chatted with her online, exchanged comments on her blog, dropped a few posts on the thread she started at WMW.
• You’ve done your research: you know the type of guys she likes, you know her number, you know where she lives, you know her class schedule, you know her friends, you even know her favorite shirt, i.e. you’ve done every imaginable link profile and domain quality check — she’s not only clean, she’s DMOZ/Yahoo! Directory, .EDUs, .GOVs…she’s now more desirable than ever (insert image of a drooling boy here)
• You’ve managed to transform yourself into the man of her dreams - you wear the right clothes, you put on the right cologne, you lend your shoulder when she needs it, you’ve become the gentleman and you’ve got her friends talking about you; most important of all, you think she’s starting to notice you, i.e. you post topics which you think she’ll like; the tools, the videos, the whitepapers and the other linkbaits you’ve placed on your website are working — you’ve got people buzzing and you think she’ll buzz with them soon, you’ve seen her mention your name a couple of times already!
• But alas, just when you were about to ask her out, she gets swept off her feet by this Porsche-driving jerk, i.e. dammit, she’s into text link ads :P
