Those are the traits I look for when scouting for new recruits. While it’s getting harder and harder to find the right people, staying with applicants with the smarts, passion and ethics for the job will almost always be the best recruitment mantra to follow. I’ve also seen managers hire people of less caliber for fear of being outshined by their subordinates. No good has come out of that practice.
While hiring the best has its pitfalls (most of them outgrow your vision and your wallet in a few years), I would always go for the best-in-class candidate and risk having to replace him/her every year, than have the same stupid asshole onboard for the next 5 to 10 years.
How would you go about recruiting people?

that’s a good outlook. but you’d be surprised how the best-in-class people are those who would stick it out with you through thick or thin. it just becomes a matter of getting that person’s buy-in into your goals.
here’s a thought.. hire yourself. or someone better than you. you become the bar of excellence in your company. being surrounded by people of such high caliber pushes the playing field (even yours) to a whole new level.

searcing for the right people is tough but doable. the right people don’t necessarily have to be the best in class RIGHT NOW, they can be people with the potential to be BEST IN CLASS at some point in the future. right people are driven and motivated - I take “hungry” as determined to achieve and taste success of achieving a goal. HUMBLE is not a specific quality I would look for, MODEST maybe? fake HUMILITY is not a difficult trait to spot - Filipinos generally kowtow to the BOSS anyway. HTH.

Steve jobs said “stay hungry, stay foolish.”
That’s how he made his way to the top.
Though by “foolish,” I think he meant innocent, curious and willing to explore.
My two cents on recruiting people.

I would go for people with strong character and with integrity. The other stuff’s (Knowledge & Skills) can be learned.

I would look for people who are ethical and hungry for growth and recognition. People who live on the edge, but are also cutting edge.
