Something to add to the How to Evaluate Presell Pages conversation: “Presell Posts” and “Hosted Marketing Posts”.
- Presell Posts - same as presell pages, only this time, they’re blog posts.
- Hosted Marketing Posts - same as hosted marketing pages, only this time, they’re blog posts.
Example: Andy Beal’s online reputation monitoring post in support of Fortune Interactive’s online reputation monitoring service.
It’s not really a good example since Andy Beal does own Fortune Interactive so it’s really just a case of friendly linking but I’m sure there are professional bloggers out there who are heavily into the paid reviews business. Sorry no names!
OT: I find it hard to believe companies would need to outsource the monitoring function to a third party (reputation building yes but monitoring??). Any decent marketing personnel with intermediate search skills can do a vanity search to listen in to any online public conversation about the company or any of its VIPs, i.e. blogs, forums, articles, etc. Most of this stuff can be automated too. It’s just a matter of learning which signals to tune to. Start with Technorati and Google/Yahoo/MSN and their News services.

Actually, you’d be surprised just how badly big companies are monitoring CGM. Even if they are monitoring, they’re often overwhelmed by all the duplicates and spam posts.
That being said, with dedicated personel, you can monitor it yourself. That’s why we created the do-it-yourself guide. :-)

Andy, if I had a direct line to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, I’d ask her to contact you. Her online image has been beaten to death ever since the wiretapping scandal. Google bombs, hate sites, you name it! :) can one ever rise up from a Traffic Power-level beating and still smell good online?

Probably not. Reputation monitoring/management is not a bar of dial soap - if you still stink, it won’t help you. ;-)
