SEO Job Opening in Libis
Posted (Marc) in SEO on October-27-2005

Here’s another SEO related opening: Information Professionals, Inc. is out looking for a Web SEO (don’t know why the had to add the “Web” qualifier).

Their requirements are:

  • At least 1-2 Years experience in Web SEO - yeah good luck with that :) not too many people with that qualification
  • Expert knowledge and experience in wide range of SEO and SEM strategies, techniques and implementation, including Google ranking, search engine algorithms, link popularity campaigns, Search Engine Submission Management, Adding doorway pages, Tile tag strategy. Tag optimizations and identify localized or specialized SEO and SEM strategies both here in the Philippines, Europe and Internationally. - you’re looking for a grizzled gray hatter :)
  • Experience with Paid Per Click Search Engine Marketing including Google AdWords, Google page rank and Overture, Espotting a plus. - After you’ve shortlisted candidates based on your first qualification, then you’ll have to chop probably 80% off the list. Adwords and Overture are not for the faint hearted, therefore not too many Pinoy SEOs test the PPC waters.
  • Ability to write quality keyword lists, Give Keywords consultancy, optimize Title and Meta tags and keyword-rich text. Candidate is also expected to re rwite or create new content. - plenty of copywriters around, it’s just a matter of giving them the right tools and training, right girls?
  • Keep up to date with latest in the search engine and SEO industry to identify trends and applicable new approaches - I can give you a list of active SEO Philippines members :)
  • Working knowledge of the impact of HTML, XML, JavaScript, PHP, RSS, and CSS on SEO - I know somebody who fits the profile :)
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills - a given, considering competitive analysis is an integral aspect of SEO
  • Must be able to work closely with both programmers and marketing people and be able to communicate with management. - how close? :) the best SEOs are good at both programming and marketing
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent. - Math? IMO, I think the best SEO candidates are the ones who have direct marketing experience and are tech savvy.
  • Programming knowledge in PHP and asp.net will be considered a Plus. - If you have a solid understanding of what you want, you can always outsource the nitty gritty to a programmer.
  • Applicants must be willing to work in Libis, Quezon City. - man I miss Eastwood. Haven’t been there in ages!
  • Preferably 2-5 yrs experienced - not needed.

I saw the ad in JobsDB. Don’t know if it’s still active though.

I think they are looking for you, Marc.

Kates, no they’re not :) besides, what’s the point of coming up with a Dilbert Cube Escape Plan when I’ll just be transferring to another cube? :) I wanna work in Boracay!

Information Professionals, Inc. is a body shop. I wonder who the principal is. Obviously, IPI doesn’t really understand the qualifications involved. Yup, the copy writing part looks like a separate job altogether.

Migs, I think they do, it’s just that companies have to “adapt” Monster.com listings for the Philippine market. I should know. The first time we ran SEO job postings in Jobstreet, we didn’t get anywhere. It’s when we changed it to “Web Copywriter” that we got a few decent hits.

Hmm now I’m curious. I’ve been trying to soft sell the Philippines in some of the SEO forums I regularly visit..baka this is the start of something good :)

I think, if someone is really a good SEO. He shouldnt have to join in a SEO firm to earn. This is because his capability is sufficient enough to earn for himself. By the way, being a SEO practitioner in the Philippines doesnt require a big investment. IF you have P1000, you can buy a domain, apply there what you have know about SEO, devote lots of time making your website number 1 in Google, Yahoo and MSN. Then after 4-5 months. You can earn much more than a regular Engineer can earn in the Philippines. By the way, I`m an employed engineer but my earning for publishing websites is much higher than what I earned in my professional f****ng enginering job.

Alfie, high five, SEO/SEM = the best Dilbert cube escape plan ever!

Migs on November 8th, 2005 at 8:30 PM #

Looks like Alfie is there already. He’s in the DHL club?!
