No, this isn’t about the latest scandalous photos of Pinoy Big Brother (yes, I know it’s just a viral thing and everyone’s gotta have their fix of these skanky posers — whatever happened to good old TV programming anyways!?).
There are other ways to get noticed online. For example, in a tightly competitive niche like online dating, the best way to get people to link to your site is to offer something both unique and offensive.
Take a look at Desparate Dating and you’ll see why Aaron Wall linked to it from SEOBook.com.
The site might be absolutely offensive to a ton of people, but that site will likely get links from BOTH people who like it AND people who hate it. The site is equally unique and offensive, which is something that is oh-so-easy to link at.
Don’t forget to browse the Butt Ugly category. See that? I just linked to the site again. I told you it pays.
Now if all that fails to impress people, you can always go the other route. Take Pinoy Big Brother for example. I think ABS CBN’s take on the whole reality TV thing is one bordering on desperation. How do you get the lucrative 15 to 35-year old bracket to switch? Through sex of course.
- Put Asia Agcaoili in compromising situations (and positions) to ummm maximize her hosting prowess.
- Send out a viral email containing screenshots of steamy scenes inside the house.
- Build up your viewers expectations, culminating in yes, our own PBB version of the on-the-table Liz Hurley lovefest in Ed TV.
The thing with reality TV shows is that you don’t see the full 24-hour tape. Now that is offensive.
