Diana Zubiri Google Images Experiment
No, you won’t find any nude pic galleries of Diana Zubiri here (at least not yet). This quest is for something less pure. It deals with a totally organic, blackhat-free attempt at rising to the top of Google for the keyword “Diana Zubiri” (without the quotes). I want to conduct an experiment to see how fast I can make this page rise to #1 in Google for the Diana Zubiri keyword. Don’t get me wrong, I would travel the whole of Encantandia and back if I could just catch a glimpse of her in that umm…Danaya costume. *click*click*click*click*click* But there’s a more noble goal, and this is to provide readers with a template/framework for conducting basic keyword research and search engine optimization (SEO). By sharing this information, it hoped that more and more Filipinos will take up and embrace the challenging, but rewarding world of search engine marketing (SEM).
Why Diana Zubiri?
Right now, Diana Zubiri is a hot keyword. How hot? For that I turn to one of the best commercial keyword research tools available: Wordtracker. A 1-year subscription will set you back $248. Wordtracker stats on Diana Zubiri and Friends
A quick look at Wordtracker reveals that the “Diana Zubiri” keyword has a count of 573. In Wordtracker lingo, count is defined as “the number of times the keyword has appeared in the Wordtracker database”. The current Wordtracker database holds 302,567,565 words.
When you look at it 573 over 302,567,565 may not mean much, especially if you compare it with Paris Hilton’s 182,565. But compare it with Diana Zubiri’s fellow Pinay celebs and you’ll see why I had to choose her. True, Maui Taylor may be as hot if not hotter with a count of 555, but she also has 723,000 competing webpages in Google. This means your webpage will be one of 723,000 webpages fighting to get the top spot in Google….which in itself is not an impossible task. Most veteran SEOs will tell you 723,000 isn’t too hard a number to beat, but the segurista in me tells me to ditch Maui for Diana. Diana only has 20,100 competing webpages. So you see, Diana Zubiri is really the hotter chick…este keyword.
So remember, the magic Wordtracker formula is:
High Keyword Count + Low Competing Pages = Good Keyword
Now Diana Zubiri’s other friends are by no means slouches, with counts ranging from 243 to 404. Feel free to play around with these chicks…este keywords for your own SEO experiments:

The Competition
Most of the 20,100 webpages we’ve identified as competitors are directory categories containing Diana Zubiri website listings. Some are newspaper articles about the actress. I don’t see too many content websites, the type die-hard fans used to make in the old days.
Content sites, especially the old ones, are hard to topple. They’ve got PageRank going for them, plus their “aged” domains get bonus points. So says this excellent find by Vern.
SEO Techniques
With very “little” competition, it looks like the recipe for success will be a dash of keyword-dense text (done) and good anchor text from other sites (not done). Since the first part has already been done, the bulk of my efforts will be devoted to building link popularity for this page.
I’ll be posting updates to this project so you may want to bookmark this page for future reference (last I heard that has no SEO benefit whatsoever). I’ll be outlining each technique applied and each challenge encountered. Think of this as reality SEO blogging, with this page being the main protagonist. So be sure to check back once in a while.
