Lie down and breathe the ocean, cleanse yourself of urban decay.
We enjoyed our Puerto Galera 1 experience so much that Sharm and I promised to return, but we weren’t counting on returning after only two weeks (we went to Puerto Galera again last March 12 to 13)! This time we were going with the ‘adventurous’ members of our department, or as I would call them, the kaladkarins. Armed with new information about room reservations and activities in Puerto Galera, I promised a better experience to Sharm and the rest of the group.

Sand’s supposed to be a good exfoliating agent.
Puerto Galera Resorts
First order of battle was to get rooms closer to the beach. The room we rented during our Puerto Galera 1 trip wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t really that close to the beach (I estimate about 400 meters away). If you’ve walked the length from the beach to the highway you know what I mean. This time, we were adamant about getting beach front accommodations. Not only would we be close to the beach, it would also mean less distance to crawl, should we get loaded too much. Dondon, our Puerto Galera 1 tour guide got us 2 rooms at Blue Water Lodge, not exactly beach front material like the Mindorine Oriental or White Beach Resort but the rooms are new, clean and about 70 meters from the beach. Their aircon rooms are good for 5-6 people and featured 2 huge beds connected to each other, Cable TV and hot/cold shower. The rooms cost us 2500 each, plus you’re required to give a 500 peso refundable deposit for the room furniture/appliances. I think you can ask the resident caretaker to cook simple meals for a small price. They also have an outside shower which we gladly took advantage of during our last day.

You can squeeze in 5-6 people inside the room, plus 2-3 more if you have sleeping bags.

Waste your time away on the balcony. Nice vantage point for scoping out fellow bakasyonistas, says Raul :)
The thing with Puerto Galera rooms is that the prices can go up every week. Local residents told me that during the lean months (June to January), beach front fan rooms cost 500 pesos while aircon rooms go for 800. From March to May, these rooms go up to 3500 pesos, with some rooms going for 5000++ during Lent’s Holy Week.
