I’ve salivated long enough. Weeks of waiting has finally come to an end. I finally drove home my very own Honda Civic VTI-S last Friday (affectionately called Sophie). Sophie was a dream project of sorts, but favorable circumstances came my way, and the rest is history.

Front, back, side to side…
Sophie was supposed to be a Mazda3, a brilliant art piece, but with too many questions on its engineering and resale value, the next logical choice was a Civic. Ann, an officemate, is getting a Mazda3 any day this week so I may still have a way of eventually determining whether I made the right choice or not…but as of now, the smile can’t hide the fact that Sophie’s perfect for me. If she was a girl, I would have raped her. No, really… ;)
I think the real, albeit unconscious reason for selecting yet another Civic has to be my college barkada. With more than half of my barkada owning a Honda, it’s really a no-brainer how I’ve been tricked to look at Honda cars as 1) engineering marvels with their VTEC-something and 2) eye candies with the plethora of after-market styling accessories. I sometimes have to pinch myself awake from dreams of exotic body kits and imported performance parts. From Ner, to Pau, Gian, Geem, Benjie and to Omeng with his souped up racer, no wonder I was brainwashed.

Woot! MP3/WMA head unit. Hours of uninterrupted R&B bliss
Getting Sophie wasn’t easy. I had to fill up then submit quite a few pages of contracts, mortgages and whatelsehaveyou. Then I had to cough up the necessary cash for the downpayment. Dad even had to sign as a co-maker, because the bank thought I was too young to have a loan. Seems like age carries more weight in determining whether you qualify for a loan, not capacity to pay. That’s discrimination right there.

Going around Subic (in reality, trying hard not to look lost in Subic)
Sophie brings me great pride and joy…as well as great financial strain. I will have to sacrifice a lot. In the end it doesn’t matter though for defining moments are really priceless.
Special thanks to Alcid of Honda Kal and Jelson aka Parekoy for the excellent palakad work. You’re one special bai that won’t be forgotten in the anus, este annals of ePacific ;) Special note of thanks to Sharm for the excellent photos. Lastly, Dad & Mommy, you’re the best!
