Saturday afternoon found the team assembling at the Steel Mill in Novaliches for the last day of training for next week’s Kalis 4 tournament. This was the day that our lineup would be finalized once and for all. With just a few more days remaining, I thought it was good that we decided to lock the roster once and for all. The more time squadmates spend in battle, the better our chances of playing good.

Chilling with Caimera, AcMad and Tintoot.
Tactics, Tactics, Tactics.
I’m not really sure if my other squadmates from team B will play. Some might just do that, judging from the way they played as opfor for the first team. But if the attendance yesterday is any indication, it’s safe to say that we’ll be cheering for the first team come Kalis. I guess it’s better that way. I’d rather we not force the issue. Forming a second team would have been a great idea, but with most of the players in that roster not really familiar with each other’s play, I don’t think that’s necessarily the best move. I would rather we wait a year for our turn to represent the group for the yearly event.
I think the best option is to pair 2 cliques in one squad. In effect, you have two mini-squads extremely familiar with the playing styles of their squadmates. Majority of the training would then be spent synchronizing the two mini-squads’ playing styles. You only need to look at the 2003-2004 Detroit Pistons and the 2003 U.S. Olympic Basketball team to figure out that teamwork will always win over individual talent.
I hope for Kalis 5, the scenarios will favor my playing style. I also have to show I can assault a defensive line as intelligently and as effectively as the others. Only then will I shed off the second best mantle. It’s good to note that I have more than a year to do just that :)
I’d volunteer for Kalis 4 combat photographer duty but I’ve been having Aedes aegypti nightmares recently.
