Just felt like naming this after the Incubus song. I originally wanted to write something about the movie, but I didn’t feel like writing a review. But a promise is a promise…so here it is.
Think Indiana Jones meets The Mummy. The movie recycled elements from the original Linda Blair flick which was to be expected. The plot doesn’t twist too much, and when it finally did, it wasn’t that dramatic. No, I didn’t wet my pants, but I did look back at the rear view window more on my way home. Hey, you can never be too careful these days :) It’s nice to see a horror (can I even call it as such) flick once in a while. Hey, I’d still pick The Exorcist over The Notebook on any given day.
It’s Kalis weekend next week. The fourth installation of this yearly airsoft event will feature a lot of wargaming, militaria exhibits and endless kwentuhan sessions with your weekend soldier buddies. It’ll be my first time to join the team competition event. I’ll be with my Team Mission Specific (TMS) buddies. I just wish I won’t make an ass of myself when the actual missions start. I’ll be as focused as I was reviewing for the f*cking history quiz bee in grade school. I’ll probably act as a support gunner for the squad. Ya’ll know how I just love to be the designated marksman laying down accurate support fire for the assault rats. I promise to make those .25’s count. I better.
The format’s been revised somewhat, which should make for one interesting weekend. Mission briefs were sent out the other day. I guess we’ll be training for them scenarios tomorrow. I’m still having second thoughts about going to Nayon tomorrow after what happenend to a fellow airsofter. I resolve to buy the best mosquito repellant in the market tomorrow. Again, one can never be too careful these days. She asks me why I would go to Nayon to risk my life over a game. Hoot couldn’t have phrased it more appropriately:
When I go home people ask me, they say “Hey Hoot, why do you do it man? Why? You some kind of war junkie? I won’t say a goddam word. Why? They won’t understand. They won’t understand why we do it. They won’t understand, it’s about the men next to you. And that’s it. That’s all it is.
Passion. I believe I have it. Most people back then didn’t understand, most still don’t today. In the circles that I move in, I can see the fire in their eyes flickering, dying…it’s anathema to me, just as I think it’s anathema to the Blue and White.
Final Four. Kalis. Judgement day. Amen.
